This project was presented in the Spring of 2025 as part of Dr. Peter Van Zandt Lane’s doctoral seminar on the analysis of contemporary music for wind ensemble.
Instead of preparing a traditional term paper, I opted to create an analytical website in order to make an initial exploration of how the publishing capabilities of software such as Obsidian can enable more rhizomatic, multimedia, and non-linear modes of analysis and scholarship.
The website is not a comprehensive analysis and it only provides a basic exploration of the affordances of a digital garden format for scholarship. However, it was surprisingly easy and rewarding to create, and I hope that it (among many other examples) can help to popularize this format for scholarship.
